Thanks to our colleagues from EPIA, we present you SolarPV.TV & EPIA Market Update: Global Market Outlook for Photovoltaics Until 2015 which is held by Gaetan Masson, Senior Economist at EPIA.

Gaetan's presentation is based on EPIA's recently published publication "Global Market Outlook for Photovoltaics Until 2015"

More about the publication

Over the past decade, the photovoltaic (PV) market has experienced unprecedented growth. In particular in the last year, the photovoltaic market has reached a cumulative installed capacity of roughly 40 GW world-wide, with an annual added capacity of 16.6 GW. The photovoltaic power is well on the way to becoming a fully competitive part of the electricity system in the European Union (EU) and an increasingly important part of the energy mix around the Globe. But much of the progress in recent years has been very heterogeneous, varying from country to country, due to several factors, the most important being different national regulations and incentive schemes as well as varying availability of financing facilities.

Exclusive for EPIA Members! A toolkit including all figures and tables can be downloaded on this webpage (after log-in on to the Members Area)

More about EPIA

The European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA) is the world's largest industry association devoted to the solar photovoltaic (PV) electricity market. The association aims to promote PV at national, European and worldwide levels and to assist its members in their business development in both the European Union and export markets.

EPIA secretariat is located in the ?Renewable Energy House?. In the heart of the European area in Brussels, this building gathers all associations involved in renewable energy.

  • With over 240 Members drawn from across the entire solar photovoltaic (PV) sector, the European Photovoltaic Industry Association is the world?s largest photovoltaic industry association. EPIA Members are present throughout the whole value-chain: from silicon, cells and module production to systems development and PV electricity generation as well as marketing and sales.
EPIA?s mission is to deliver a distinct and valuable service driven from the strength of a single photovoltaic voice.
  • EPIA is the only representative structure of PV in Europe.

What does EPIA do?

  • Representing the European PV industry towards political institutions at European and International level,
  • Informing its Members on the latest legislative developments,
  • Anticipating legislation having a potential impact on the sector,
  • Advising key decision-makers on the most adequate policies to develop a sustainable PV market,
  • Forecasting future European and global market developments,
  • Mobilising the sector via working groups and workshops to define clear positions on political, technical and economic issues,
  • Promoting a higher penetration of the technology,
  • Accompanying industrial development trough political actions,
  • Facilitating business-to-business contacts among industry stakeholders,
  • Supporting national organisations in achieving their local objectives,
  • Organising conferences where solar electricity has strong potential and requires additional support (e. g. PV Med conference).

Strong partnerships and strategic alliances

EPIA is a founding Member of:

EPIA is a member of:

EPIA coordinates the European Photovoltaic Technology Platform: www.eupvplatform.org

EPIA is also active at national level through partnerships with national associations and agencies. These national partnerships are essential to ensure the development of a genuinely European photovoltaic market.

The 26th EU PVSEC is organised by WIP-Renewable Energies, in close institutional cooperation with EPIA: www.photovoltaic-conference.com.
