At Enersolar + in Milan there were lots of people making pictures with Giga Solar booth, who was showing on their advertisement the prices like it is usually done in supermarket.
The module prices were as follows:
-
2011 - ?0,60/Wp
-
2012 - ?0,55/Wp
-
2013 - ?0,50/Wpa
We were also wondering if it was a marketing trick that is why we shortly interviewed Luciano Giangiordano, Manager of International Strategic Clients about roots and strategy of Giga Solar.
Giga Solar, formerly known as China United Cleaning Technologies(CUC), was established in 2004 specializing in medium and high end semi-conductor cleaning technologies.
In 2006 CUC became the first to develop Chinese made 10-groove wet process equipment technology and deploy it in the field. In 2007 the company received an equity investment of $25million from SAIF, Asia's premier private equity firm, and entered the solar energy industry. In 2008 Giga Solar sucessfully developed the first Chinese made polycrystalline texturing equipment breaking the monopoly of foreign companies in the field. In 2009 the company became the first to deliver turn-key projects in China and has since establisehed itself as the most professional and proficient in the industry. In 2010 it was awarded first place in the Deloitte China Fast50 recognizing it as the fastest growing hi-tech company in China.
By the end of 2011 Giga Solar will have a yearly production capacity of 4GW in solar cells and 2GW in solar modules.
