In our second part of our focus on the proposed FIT cuts in Germany we spoke with  David Wedepohl spokesman for BSW (The German Solar Industry Association). We met Mr Wedepohl where he works at the Energy Forum offices in Berlin.

As we spoke with Mr Wedepohl we got the chance to guage his organisations view of the impending FIT cuts and ask how his association will respond to these measures and how the German Solar PV industry will develop.

Here are some of the topics we discussed with him...

  • We heard about the massive protests of the German companies against the 15% cut proposed by the government, does he think that it influenced the more constructive position of Angela Merkel?s Cabinet?

  • What is the position of BSW, which level of additional cuts would be reasonable in your opinion and why?

  • What actions BSW is going to still undertake in order to defend its position in the Bundestag?

  • How does he see a competitiveness of the German industry in the future?

More about BSW-Solar:

With about 700 member companies, Bundesverband Solarwirtschaft e.V. is the interest group of the German solar energy industry. Forming a strong community of companies, BSW-Solar acts as an informant and intermediary between business and the political and public sectors. It represents the common commercial interests of businesses within the solar energy value chain.

BSW-Solar exerts a decisive influence on creating and securing a suitable policy framework for stable growth, and thus on ensuring investment security throughout the solar industry. Our objective is to establish solar energy as a permanent pillar of a global energy industry.

BSW-Solar consists of the Board of Directors, which sets strategic guidelines and a frame for the work of the BSW-Solar Office - led by its Managing Director, Carsten Körnig. The Board is elected by the general meeting. Additionally, there are several working groups in which BSW-Solar members can actively participate to shape the work of BSW-Solar.
